FIGHT AGAINST FASCISM AND ANTISEMITISM IS OUR OBLIGATION!

International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism – November 9 this year was marked in Nis – Palilula Municipality in Bubanj Park place where more than 10 000 thousand people were killed during the Second World War. On this occasion the Special History Lesson was organized about the significance of this date and memory on the victims of fascist terror. It was lectured by Professor Rade Stankovic and the `public` consisted of the students of grammar school `Svetozar Markovic`, Kralj Petar Prvi elementary school, representatives of civil society organizations, Office for Youth Palilula Municipality, EKOpolis, Women space, LDA, YuRom centre, Centre for Girls, Board for Civil Rights.

On this occasion, the participants of this gathering were welcomed and greeted by PhD Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality, Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Assembly, Boban Mikic, member of Palilula Council. They emphasized the activity of this organization of City of Nis local self-government on education of young and strengthening `antifascist consciousness`. From the memorial place and public space in Palilula Municipality the graffiti were removed, words conveying the thoughts of hate and general national hatred – emphasized Novakovic. With the cooperation with non- governmental sector and permanent presence of our authorities at the terrain we have provided pre conditions that these incidents do not appear in our municipal settlements and parts.

International day against fascism and Antisemitism -November 9 is celebrated throughout world. This day is established as a sign of memory to the victims of Cristal night when on German streets and at the fairs on November 9 1938 Adolf Hitler government started violently with the Jews persecution. It was the introduction to later holocaust where it came finally to Nazi Germany total defeat in Second World War. In the period of almost 7 years, the all around the Europe, in mass killings in concentration camps, more than few million Jews, Roma and other people were killed. Serbia, in the time of Second World War, lost more than one million people. Our country cherishes the memory on the citizens who were killed during Nazi occupation. Only in Nis in Red cross Camp on Bubanj many citizens were shot.
